i chose to recreate darwin's classic "on the origin of species" using traditional illustration to highlight the scientific nature of the book, while still trying to add a more modern and creative feel. the cover represents the common organs that many animals share, and the faces inside the book are modeled after the stages of a embryo's development. evolution can be traced by looking at the shared traits of embryos across species, so it felt fitting to use for this book, especially given their more surreal appearance.
